When your child gets stuck on a word, don't just tell them the answer! Empower them to figure it out using their detective tools.
Sound It Out: Encourage them to listen for the letter sounds: "What sound does the 'st' make?" This builds crucial Phonics skills that are the building blocks of reading.
Use the Clues: Guide them to look at the other words in the sentence. "If the big alligator was trying to s___ across the river, what word would make sense here?" This sharpens Context Clue skills—a tool they will use for problem-solving in math, science, and life!
